When previewed at the 1997 London Motorshow, the new 1.8 litre Rover K-series engine fitted in the 1998 model year Roadsport caused quite a stir. Whilst many felt that the introduction of the 1.8 litre variant was inevitable, others believed the 1.6 was superior thanks to its more frenetic character being in keeping with the legendary Caterham chassis. However, by the time people had the opportunity to actually drive the car, it was an overnight success. Thanks to both its increased power and – crucially – its increased torque, the car was not only capable of outperforming its smaller engined stable mates, but it was also an easier and more relaxing drive when it needed to be.

This particular car is a stunning tribute to its former keepers.
